A notably ripe nose displays cassis, spice and red berry liqueur aromas that are trimmed in a hint of chocolate. There is fine intensity to the mineral-driven and generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration and a caressing mouth feel, all wrapped in a firm and moderately robust finish underpinned by firm tannins and beautiful persistence. This velvety but relatively powerful wine exhibits good delineation for the vintage as well as moderate austerity which is also relatively rare in this opulent year. Like many 2009s today this could easily be enjoyed now but I would advise holding it for another 5 to 7 years first to further resolve the supporting structure.
