In contrast to the Clos de Vougeot where the ultra-ripe aromas and flavors seemed to have freshened, here the nose remains ripe to the point of surmaturité. While there is good verve and impressive volume to the extract rich broad-shouldered flavors that terminate in a powerful and mouth coating finish, this is still riper than what I can warm up to personally. To be clear, and fair, this is not an unbalanced effort, in fact it's quite impressive in its fashion but it's not what I seek in the finest of Burgundies.
